too cold.
A diary inspired by excerpts from a diary written by my grandmother, Edith Gertrude Kreigh (1886-1977), an American mother with children on both fronts during World War II. Excerpts (in bold print)were written mostly in the spring of 1942, and published here on the same days of the year as original entries, 65 years later. All other texts are by Sue Anne Moody (1947-).

Susan Lynne Miller (Lung) here. Been searching for you for a very long time! Now I get to look at a picture of you from the view of a snot rag about to go in to do a difficult job. Any way I can contact you is thrilling to me. I heard through the grapevine that you come to Walnut Creek which is where my daughter lives with her boyfriend. I'm coming to the reunion and would love to see you there or any time any place else, for that matter. Please let me know how to contact you. The last time we met, eons ago, I drove through the pouring rain, never wavering, in spite of the dangers of the wet road, from coming to see you. Don't forget, I majored in drama. All my love and thoughts...Susannah (after my grandma). PS. Would love to see Toni, too.
